The current mass migration is perhaps the first time that traveling refugees have widespread ownership of smartphones and frequent internet access. The ability to access information and communicate on such a large scale has enabled the individual to organize and to document the own journey and has resulted in the creation of many online communities offering advice and services. Following the social media traces of refugees on their journey from Syria to Europe, we got a picture of the effect new technology has had on migration.

The projects was published as one chapter of the Design Academy print publication ‘Objective Europe’.
